BALTIMORE (WBFF) – A barricade situation early Sunday afternoon on the Southwest side of Baltimore has ended after nearly five hours, with one man taken into custody, and no hostage injuries, police said.

Officers on patrol at about 11 a.m. this morning, observed a man who was wanted for a rape that occurred within the past 24 hours, and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle did not stop, and a pursuit began for a period of time and ended at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Monroe Street when the suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle on the street.

Police say the person inside of the civilian vehicle suffered from only minor injuries and was taken to a hospital to receive medical attention.

The suspect immediately fled from the vehicle into the Burger King on Washington Boulevard with what police believed to be a handgun. There were four individuals inside of the Burger King when the suspect entered, police say they were held against their will. Those inside included a 7-year-old girl, 17-year-old female employee, 25-year-old manager and a 67-year-old patron.

Over the course of several hours, negotiators were able to talk the suspect into releasing some of the hostages. At approximately 1:45 p.m., the 17-year-old employee was released. Shortly after at 2:20 p.m. the 67-year-old man was released.

The person was taken into custody when the incident ended at about 4:50 p.m., according to T.J. Smith, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Police Department, but his name and age was not immediately available. The final two hostages were released when the suspect surrendered to police. No information was available as to if there was a weapon found and no other details of the incident were made immediately available either.

There were no reports of injuries to the hostages.

Police were diverting traffic around the surrounding communities.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) – Police are investigating what led up to a shooting that took the life of 24-year-old Jenna Manuel Saturday evening. The victim walked into Harbor Hospital bleeding, and later succumbed to her injuries.

In a statement released by police, they were called to the hospital for a walk-in shooting victim at approximately 3:28 p.m. Arriving officers found Jenna Manuel suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Hospital staff treated her, but she passed away several hours later.

Detectives were able to determine that the woman was shot while in her vehicle on Maude Avenue near 6th Street in South Baltimore. They believe that an unknown suspect in a brown or maroon Honda, got out and fired several shots from outside of their vehicle towards Manuel. That vehicle fled the scene shortly after.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) – Baltimore City Police have confirmed the death of 23-year-old Tyriece “Lor Scoota” Watson, of Clifton Avenue, following what police call a “targeted” shooting after he was shot while driving Saturday evening.

Sources say Lor Scoota, one of Baltimore’s fastest up-and-coming rappers, was leaving the “Touch The People Pray For Peace in these Streets Charity Basketball Game” when he was shot and subsequently killed.

At about 6:56 p.m., Lor Scoota was shot while driving his vehicle eastbound on Moravia Road at Harford Road, when an unidentified black man began firing a weapon after stepping into the street, police said.

He was transported to an area hospital where he died a short time later.

Due to the injuries he sustained, homicide detectives are taking control of the investigation.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white bandanna. No additional suspect information is available at this time.

Falls Church,Va. (WBFF) — The man wanted in connection to a string of bank robberies in northern Virginia has been arrested, county police said.

The Fairfax County Police Department confirmed that Amin Huie, 42, of Arlington was arrested Friday afternoon, June 10.

Huie was wanted in connection with six bank robberies, and one attempted robbery, dating back to June 2014.

After a thorough investigation made in conjunction with the FBI Washington Field Office Violent Crimes Task Force, the Fairfax County Police Department, the City of Falls Church Police Department, and the Arlington County Police Department, officials believe Huie to be the ‘Forever Loyal Bandit.’

In the most recent bank robbery, police were called to the Capital One Bank on West Broad Street and Falls Avenue. Officers issued a lookout broadcast after the suspect fled the location before any officers arrived. A short time later officers from the City of Falls Church located a suspect matching the description of the bank robber and detained him.

Huie was taken to the Arlington County Adult Detention Facility and was charged with robbery, police said.

On Monday, Fairfax County Police Department Major Crimes detectives were able to obtain four more robbery warrants that will be served to Huie upon his release.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Smoke and flames tore through a junkyard in Northwest Baltimore on Sunday, sending a large amount of smoke visible throughout the city.

The fire broke out shortly before 3 p.m., on Erdman Avenue near E. Federal Street.

Baltimore City Fire Department estimates approximately 80 and 100 vehicles that were damaged in the blaze.

No injuries were reported and no additional structures were burned. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters worked diligently against heavy winds to prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring building, according to officials.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore City police are searching for the person who killed a 38-year-old man in Southwest Baltimore Saturday afternoon.

Police discovered the victim on Shipley Avenue and W. Baltimore Street at about 3:41 p.m. with several gunshot wounds to the body. Medics were then called to the scene to transport the victim to Bon Secours Hospital. The victim later succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving to the hospital, police said.

Homicide detectives were originally called to the scene to investigate due to the victims injuries, they are now taking control of the investigation.

EDGEWATER, Md. (WBFF) — Emergency responders have recovered the body of a man who drowned in the South river after jumping in the water Saturday evening, according to Anne Arundel County fire department.

Divers recovered the body of 47-year-old Joseph Vincent Rossi, around 10 a.m., after resuming their search efforts around the surrounding waters of the South River near Selby Bay.

The incident was reported Saturday evening about five minutes after 7 p.m.

Officials said that operator of the boat called 911 and informed them that a man lost his hat, jumped out of the boat to retrieve it and disappeared.

It is believed that he was not wearing a safety vest at the time of the incident.

Search crews with the Anne Arundel County fire and the Maryland Natural Resources police conducted the initial search.

Rossi’s body will be transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, says the MDNRP.
