Firefighters rescue elderly woman trapped next to burning home

BALTIMORE (WBFF)– Firefighters made their way into an adjacent row home to rescue an elderly woman who was trapped after the house next-door caught fire.

Officials were called to the scene on Wilkens Avenue near S. Bentalou Street at 3 p.m., according to an official release. When firefighters arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke showing from the font and visible fire in the rear.

Firefighters were able to gain entry to the home by breaking doors and windows.

It took approximately 30 minutes to place the two story vacant row home fire under control.

One family is now displaced. Officials estimated property damage is at $20,000.

No civilians were injured in this incident

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
