Man may not face charges in fatal pedestrian accident

CROFTON, Md. (WBFF)– Police in Crofton have completed their investigation into a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the early morning of April 1, charges are only pending with the States Attorney.

Niccolo Teobaldo Canning, 21, was hit and killed while standing in the roadway on Crain Highway near the intersection of Crossgate drive, police said.

Anne Arundel County police were able to determine that neither alcohol nor speed played as a factor in the crash on part of the driver. But believe it to be pedestrian error by not yielding to oncoming traffic by not standing in the crosswalk.

Police do believe that the pedestrian had been drinking prior to the accident.

The 50-year-old driver Davis Brown, of Bowie was not injured according to police.

The victim was declared deceased at the scene. The Baltimore Medical Examiner’s office is currently working to determine the cause of death.
